What is a Class K Extinguisher?
Class K extinguishers contain a wet chemical agent specifically designed to fight high-temperature cooking oil fires. They are required to be mounted within 30 feet of the cooking line in all commercial kitchens.
Why do you need one?
While your hood suppression system is the primary defense, the Class K extinguisher is the required manual backup. It is used to extinguish any remaining fire spots after the main system has discharged, or for small fryer fires before the main system trips.
