The challenge

What the Client Needed

This kitchen's line is covered by three independent Ansul R-102 systems with six 3-gallon cylinders between them. Grease and heat had worn the fusible links on the detection lines, two manual pull stations had cracked or missing glass, and the system's signal to the building's fire alarm panel needed to be confirmed.

What we did

How the Job Was Done

  1. Disarm

The AUTOMAN release mechanisms were disarmed and the expellant gas cartridges secured before the detection lines were touched.

  2. 17 fusible links

The detection lines were slackened, the grease-coated links removed, the corner pulleys inspected, and 17 new temperature-rated fusible links installed.

  3. Release mechanism part

A replacement Ansul metal cup was installed in one release mechanism.

  4. Nozzles and pull stations

Nozzle tips were cleaned, their aim over the fryers and ovens checked, and missing caps replaced. Two pull stations received new break-glass panels and tamper seals.

  5. Shut-off and alarm panel

Simulated microswitch trips confirmed the gas shut-off, the exhaust fan interlock and the signal to the building's fire alarm panel. Trouble signals on the panel were cleared.

  6. Tags

All three systems received State Fire Marshal semi-annual tags under license C16-976500.
