The challenge

What the Client Needed

The restaurant's CaptiveAire hood and tank system was already mounted. It still had to be connected to the gas and electrical shut-offs, given a manual release, permitted and approved before the restaurant could open.

What we did

How the Job Was Done

  1. Plans and permit

Layout plans showing nozzle positions, appliance coverage, pipe routing and actuation, submitted to the Fire Department for approval and the permit.

  2. System connections

Final connections on the pre-mounted CaptiveAire tank system: control modules, actuation and microswitches tied to the gas valve and the electrical power relays, so fuel shuts off automatically when the system trips.

  3. Manual push station

A high-visibility manual push station mounted and wired along an accessible exit route.

  4. Portable extinguishers

A Class K wet chemical extinguisher next to the cooking line for cooking-oil fires, and two ABC dry chemical extinguishers for the rest of the space.

  5. Inspection

On-site testing with the fire official: manual trip, microswitch signaling, gas valve shut-off and an air-puff discharge test.
